Joulu ei oikein tuntunut tänä vuonna joululta, monestakin syystä. Lähtö on nyt niin lähellä, että on vaikea keskittyä mihinkään muuhun. Ja kyllä tuo lumeton joulu vei viimeisetkin joulufiilikset. Kun ruoho vihertää, on aika vaikea saada sitä joulun tunnelmaa aikaiseksi. Tässä hiljattain sattui vielä ikäviä asioita perhepiirissä. Mutta ei siitä sen enempää.
Nyt on tulossa uusivuosi ja sekin menee tässä muuttoa valmistellessa. Eipä me muutenkaan olla enää vuosiin “kunnolla” juhlittu uuttavuotta, mutta nyt ei sitten senkään vertaa.
2.1 tulee muuttofirma pakkaamaan tavaroitamme ja 3.1 he tekevät muuttokuorman valmiiksi. Meidän pitäisi sitä ennen saada kaikki kaapit käytyä läpi ylimääräisistä tavaroista. On tässä tullut aika paljon vietyä kirpparille tavaraa ja aika monta säkkiä vielä menee Kontin keräyslaatikkoon.
Pitäisi odottaa iloisena ja jännittyneenä uutta tulevaa, mutta ei edes tunnu siltä että olisimme lähdössä. Onkohan tämä joku kieltämisreaktio, ehkä se asia alkaa pikkuhiljaa kolahtaa takaraivoon, kun tyypit tulee viemään meidän tavarat pois.. Tai viimeistään siinä vaiheessa kun pääsemme Graziin.
Viralliset hommat alkaa olla jo pikkuhiljaa hoidettu. Kissoillakin on passit ja muut tarvittavat asiat hoidettu matkustusta varten.
Passeista puuttuu vielä passikuvat. Lemmikkieläinpassissa ne eivät ole pakolliset, mutta mulla on niin loistavat kuvat kissoista, että onhan ne sinne laitettava:
Saimme kissoille eläinlääkäriltä rauhoittavia mahdollisia lentomatkan aiheuttamia pelkotiloja varten, koska kissat eivät ole aikaisemmin matkustaneet lentokoneessa eikä meillä ole aavistustakaan kuinka ne siellä tulevat käyttäytymään. Aikomus on viedä kissat “käsimatkatavaroina” matkustamossa.
Eläinlääkäri käski testata rauhoittavia ensin kotioloissa, jotta näemme miten ne vaikuttavat kissoihin. Testasimme niitä sitten tässä eräänä päivänä. Kun lääke alkoi vaikuttaa, kissat alkoivat vaeltelemaan levottomasti, hieman hoiperrellen pitkin kämppää. Ensimmäinen reaktio ei siis kyllä ollut rauhoittuminen! Tietysti niistä tuntui omituiselta, eivätkä oikein osanneet suhtautua olotilaansa. Ja tietenkin niiden piti koko ajan yrittää hyppiä joka paikkaan: hyllyn päälle, pöydille, tv-tasolle, ikkunalle.. ainakaan pelkotiloja putoamisesta ei ollut havaittavissa!
Tein vielä testin jonka avulla tietäisin varmasti että rauhottavien annostus olisi kohdallaan: kaivoin kissojen kuljetuskopan esille. Normaalisti kissat syöksyvät piiloon jos edes ajattelen kopan kaivamista vaatehuoneesta. Nyt Viiru tuli vaatehuoneen ovelle ihmettelemään kun otin kopan esiin. Laskin kopan maahan Viirun viereen ja nostin kisun koppaan. Siellä se sitten ihmetteli hetken aikaa. Vaikuttaisi aika hyvältä "pöhnältä", ehkäpä selviämme lentomatkasta kunnialla kissojen kanssa. Tai sitten meidän täytyy ottaa myös niitä rauhottavia mieheni kanssa!
Jaahas, Tikru onkin näköjään jo pakannut kamppeensa ja on valmiina lähtöön! En ole vielä viitsinyt kertoa kissoille, että ne jäävät vielä toistaiseksi Suomeen hoitoon, kunnes löydämme kämpän Grazista…
HOLIDAYS, PACKING AND ANXIETY
Christmas did not feel like Christmas this year for several reasons . Moving to Graz is now so close that it is difficult to focus on anything else. And having no snow this Christmas took away the last of the Christmas spirit . When the grass is green , it is quite difficult to get the spirit. Also there was recently some sad happenings in the family. But enough of that .
The New Year´s eve is coming and that too goes in preparation for the move . Well, we haven´t " properly" celebrated the new year for years, but now even less.
2th of January arrives the moving company and they will pack up our stuff. 3th January they will load our stuff and drive them away. We should look through all of our things before that and throw away any excess things. I´ve sold quite a lot of things in a flea market and quite a few are still going for charity.
We should be expecting happily a new and exciting future, but it does not even feel like that we are leaving. I wonder if this some kind of denial reaction, maybe it hits us when the dudes from the moving company come and take our stuff away. Or at the latest when we finally get to Graz .
Official things are beginning to be taken care of. Also our cats have passports now and other necessary things so they are ready to travel. Their passports are still missing their passport photos . In pet´s passport photos are not mandatory, but I have great photos of them that I just have to put them in there.
We got sedatives for our cats for travel by air , as cats have not previously been traveling on an airplane and we have no idea how they will behave in there . The intention is to take the cats as “hand luggage” in the cabin. The vet told me to test the sedatives first at home so we'll see how they affect cats. We tested them then the other day . When the drug began to take effect , the cats began to wander restlessly ,wobbling a little along the place. The first reaction was not therefore a calming one! Of course, it felt strange to them and they did not quite know how to react to it. And of course they tried to jump all over the place : on the shelfs , tables ,windows .. at least they were not afraid of falling!
I did a test for knowing sure that the dosage of sedatives would be right: I dug out a traveling box for cats . Normally, cats run and hide if you even think of digging it from the closet . But now Viiru, our other cat, came to marvel at the door of the closet when I took out the traveling box . I put the box next to Viiru and then put her into the box. There she was calmly and wondered for a moment. It seems quite promising now. Maybe we and the cats will cope our first flight experience with honor. Or maybe me and my spouse will also have to take the seditives!
So , Tikru (our other cat) has apparently already packed her things and is ready to go! I still have not told the cats that they have to stay in Finland for a while until we find an apartment I Graz…
