Oltiin suunniteltu Ljubljanaan lähtöä jo pari viikkoa sitten. Hotelli oli jo varattuna yhdeksi yöksi, mutta onneksi se oli peruutuskelpoinen koska ei sitten huvittanutkaan lähteä. Hassua tämä matkustelu nykyään, voidaan muuttaa suunnitelmia mielialan ja sään mukaan kun on niin monta paikkaa tässä lähellä mihin voidaan päräyttää autolla muutamassa tunnissa. Tai jättää menemättä jos tuntuu siltä. Viime lauantaina sitten päästiin matkaan. Ljubljanaan päästyämme totesimme että yksi kokonainen päivä riittää meille tätä kaupunkia varten. Peruimme siis hotellin uudestaan. Keskusta-alue on aika pieni, mutta saisihan tuolla halutessaan aikaa kulumaan varmaan enemmänkin.
We had planned going to Ljubljana already two weeks ago. We had a hotel reserved for one night, but fortunately it was cancellable, cause we didn´t feel like going that weekend. So funny this travelling nowadays. We can change our minds depending on our mood or weather when there´s so many places nearby to go by a car in just a few hours. Or just not go if we don´t feel like it. Last Saturday we decided to go. When we got to Ljubljana, it was obvious to us that one day in there would be enough for us. So we cancelled our hotel again. The city centre is quite small, although if you wanted to, you could spend also more time there.
DRAGON BRIDGE
Ljubljanan symboli, neljän lohikäärmeen vartioima silta olikin pienempi kuin odotin. Jouni olisi kuulemma kävellyt siitä ohi jos en olisi maininnut hänelle että tämä silta on nyt se päänähtävyys täällä. Mutta ihan hauska ja erilainen kuin mitä ollaan muualla nähty.
The symbol of Ljubljana, a bridge guarded by four dragons was smaller than I expected. Jouni said he would have passed it by without noticing it if I had not mentioned to him that this is the main sight in here. But it was nice and a bit different than what we have seen elsewhere.

MARKKINAT – MARKET-PLACE
Ainakin lauantaisin näkyy olevan isot markkinat aivan ydinkeskustassa. Paljon ihmisiä oli liikkeellä, mutta ei tungokseen asti. Houkutuksia turistille oli kyllä liiankin kanssa! Esimerkiksi todella hienoja käsitöitä, varsinkin puusta ja lasista tehtyjä esineitä oli paljon.
At least on Saturdays there´s a big market in the middle of the city. There were quite many people, but not too crowded. Plenty of temptations for a tourist, a bit too many! For example really nice handicrafts, especially made out of wood and glass.
Joen reunalla oli paljon kivoja terasseja. Nautiskeltiin paikallista valkoviiniä ja suussasulavaa suklaa-vadelmakakkua jokilaivojen lipuessa ohi
Along the riverside there were lots of nice terraces. We enjoyed local white whine and delicious chocolate-raspberry cake while watching river boats passing by

Ympäri kaupunkia oli tosi paljon erilaisia patsaita ja taideteoksia. Ihan hauskoja ja jotkut hieman outoja
There were numerous statues and pieces of art around the city. Some were a bit funny and some a bit weird
Vinkkinä Ljubljanaan matkustaville shoppailijoille: kolmen kilometrin päässä keskustasta on valtavan kokoinen ostosalue,
BTC City, jossa on useampi ostoskeskus sekä erillisiä liikkeitä. Koko alueen kiertämiseen voi mennä päivä tai parikin! Alueella kulkee myös ilmainen bussi.
A tip for a shopaholic travelling to Ljubljana: three kilometers from the city center there is a huge shopping area called BTC city, that has several shopping centers and also separate stores. You could easily spend a day or two in there! There´s also a free shuttle bus driving around the area.
Visualistina katselen näyteikkunoita myös ammatillisessa mielessä. BTC Cityssä bongasin ISOIMMAN mallinuken mitä olen ikinä nähnyt. Ja vieressä oli malliesimerkki “ei näin”-näyteikkunasta: mallinukke perse paljaana…
As a visual merchandiser I can´t help of looking at shops windows also in a professional sense. I saw a BIGGEST mannequin in BTC City that I have ever seen. And next to it a classic example of “don´t do this in a window display”: a mannequin with a bare ass….
